Activities last week

Last Friday and Saturday we set up an booth at the Expo X^n fair in the UTP (Universidad Tecnologica de Panama), Nicolas and other members of Fedora where there to answer questions and show Fedora. The fair goal was to show all the different activity groups within the UTP, it was really stimulative to see the amount of groups and activities that students can enjoy.

This week floss-pa organize the KDE produKtivity Day, were David Narvaez from gentoo community and Ricardo Chung from Open Suse, show all the amazing features of KDE and how the used take advantage of them, really cool features.

Fedora 17 Release Party Panama

We had fun on this release party, organised by fellow ambassador Karina Sánches, with the help of other ambassadors from the Panamanian Fedora Community it was small attendance but we have lots of fun talking about what we are doing in Fedora as contributors and encouraging others to become Fedora contributors.

There was also a great time to install some Fedora 17 and upgrade others.

And of course we have Beefy Miracle for Lunch.

Plus Beefy Miracle Cake.

Java error on Eclipse Fedora 17

This is a follow up on my Fedora 17 update, the only issue I had was the eclipse error, it turn out to be a simple detail, because it was an update and I did had install Sun Java, the software link was not updated to the java-1.7.0 that comes with Fedora 17, so a simple solution:

cd /etc/alternatives

then

rm java

and then
ln -s   /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.7.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java

that took care of the issue.
Now my eclipse works fine.


By the way it is election season in Fedora so go vote I did.
